The City of Nome.
Nome Alaska will always be famous for the gold boom the town came to
experience in the late 1800s and early period of the 1900s. The town has
seen and upsurge in gold mining in the last 20 years as gold has reached
record prices.
In and around the area of Nome you can find tours and day trips that will
take you back in time to experience the trill of mining for the golden
nugget known as Gold.
On many of the day trips you can mine and keep any and all of the Gold you
are able to find from them hills and streams.
The area is also known for the fishing. The area offers several types of
Salmon. Of course the beauty and nature of the area is still wonderful.
Nome is
located in an area of the Southern Seward Peninsula or in the Northwestern
part of the state of Alaska. The town is the economic center for the area
and native arts and crafts can be found in the area.
Nome was established during the gold rush in the late 1990s. The gold was
found in Anvil Creek and and the first settlers called the town Anvil City
and it was later changed to Nome. The town offers a relaxing and peaceful
trip out of the ordinary when you come to this area of the state. For
tourist wanting to see the historic and later day Alaska, the town of Nome
will provide everything the traveler is expecting.
